STLCC Officially Opens New Esports Arena
St. Louis Community College (STLCC) proudly celebrated the grand opening of its new esports arena on Tuesday, September 24. The event featured a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, marking a significant milestone for the college and its commitment to providing innovative opportunities for students.
The inaugural esports team and coaching staff were in attendance, joining faculty, staff, and community members to celebrate the opening of this cutting-edge facility. The arena is designed to enhance the student experience, offering a dedicated space for training, competitions, and events in the rapidly growing field of esports.
During the ceremony, Dr. Jeff Pittman, STLCC Chancellor, was presented with a signed esports jersey to commemorate this historic occasion for STLCC athletics. "This new arena represents more than just a physical space; it embodies our commitment to embracing new technologies and fostering student engagement through innovative programs," said athletic director Sharon Marquardt.
The esports arena is equipped with state-of-the-art gaming equipment, high-speed internet, and comfortable seating, making it a hub for students to collaborate, compete, and connect with fellow gamers. The addition of this facility positions STLCC as a leader in esports education and outreach in the region.
"We are excited to launch our esports program and provide students with a platform to showcase their skills," said the esports coordintor Robert Cruz. "This arena will not only support our competitive teams but also serve as a gathering place for all students interested in gaming and technology."
The esports arena is now open and we invite all STLCC students to visit the new arena to explore the world of competitive gaming and participate in upcoming events.
