The St. Louis Community College Archers continued their strong start to the season with an impressive 81-74 win over Lincoln Land Community College on Wednesday, November 12, in Springfield, Illinois. This hard-fought victory improves STLCC's record to 3-1.
The Archers showcased resilience and composure in their first road test of the season. After building a commanding 40-31 halftime lead, STLCC extended the margin to 17 points midway through the second half. Lincoln Land mounted a strong comeback, but the Archers held firm down the stretch to secure the win.
Standout Performances:
- Zac Goss led the charge with 20 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and sinking three shots from beyond the arc.
- Chris Cole added 10 points and 4 assists, orchestrating the offense with precision.
- CJ Lang and Stefan Higgins chipped in 10 points each, while Darric Smith anchored the boards with 7 rebounds.
Head Coach Terry Collins praised the team's effort:
"Getting the W in our first attempt away from home was a good step. We were very clean in the first half with only two turnovers, which helped us build that big lead. We need to work on closing out games, but CJ Lang hit two clutch shots to keep Lincoln Land at bay. Overall, it was a great team win."
The Archers shot 48.4% from the field and 34.8% from three-point range, demonstrating balanced scoring and efficient playmaking. Despite Lincoln Land's late surge, STLCC's depth and poise proved decisive.
Next up, the Archers hit the road again this Saturday, November 15, to face Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Illinois. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
