STLCC Softball Sweeps MSU–West Plains in Road Doubleheader
The St. Louis Community College softball team earned a convincing road sweep of Missouri State University–West Plains on Tuesday, securing a 9–1 victory in the opener before holding on for an 8–5 win in game two behind timely hitting and strong pitching performances.
Game 1: STLCC 9, MSU–West Plains 1
STLCC broke the game open early in the first contest, scoring three runs in the second inning and never looking back. Tataum Peery powered the offense, launching a grand slam and finishing with four RBIs to pace a 10‑hit attack.
The Archers added single runs in the fourth and seventh innings before erupting for four more in the sixth, using patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning to extend the lead. Lakota Vincent drove in two runs, while Natalie Jensen also recorded a two‑RBI hit. Reese Kieso chipped in a pair of hits and an RBI from the leadoff spot, and the Archers stole nine bases as a team.
Riley Jo Fendler was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game to earn the win. She allowed just one run on seven hits, struck out six, and walked one across seven innings to keep MSU–West Plains in check.
Game 2: STLCC 8, MSU–West Plains 5
The nightcap featured another strong offensive showing, as STLCC scored in five different innings and built a commanding early lead. The Archers jumped on the board in the first and second innings before delivering a decisive four‑run third to go up 6–0.
Peery continued her standout day at the plate, going 4‑for‑4 with four RBIs, including multiple extra‑base hits. Reese Kieso and Lakota Vincent each drove in a run, while Riley Jo Fendler added two hits and scored twice. Paige Glasgow crossed the plate three times, showing patience with a walk and creating pressure on the bases.
MSU–West Plains responded with three runs in the third and later added two more in the sixth, trimming the lead to 7–5. STLCC answered in the top of the sixth with an insurance run to seal the sweep.
Kenzie Griswold earned the win in the circle, striking out eight over three innings of work. Hadley Hughes was steady in relief, allowing two runs over four innings to close out the game.
Team Notes
Across the doubleheader, STLCC combined for 17 runs, 19 hits, and 13 stolen bases, while Peery totaled eight RBIs and five extra‑base hits over the two games. STLCC pitchers struck out 16 batters on the day, continuing a strong stretch in the circle.
The Archers return home carrying momentum after a complete team performance on the road.
