The STLCC women's soccer team continues to build momentum as they inch closer to the postseason. After two decisive vicories over the weekend, the Lady Archers were able to stay hot by defeating region/conference rival St. Charles CC by a score of 3-0. Salma Omer opened the scoring for STLCC at 16:00 on a setup from Madison Gann. Sam Amezcua made it a two goal lead, scoring an unassisted goal at 27:00. Just before the end of the first half, Madison Dodd gave the Lady Archers some insurance with a goal that was assised by Salma Omer. The three goal lead was all that STLCC would need, as neither team found the back of the net in the second half. Goalkeeper Kelly Cates earned the shutout in net, stopping all five Cougar shots.
With Tuesday's win, the Lady Archers move to 7-4 overall, 1-1 in Region XVI play, and 2-0 in MCCAC play. The team will be back in action on Sunday, October 7 for another big region/conference game against State Fair CC. Sunday's game at Meramec is scheduled to begin at noon.
