Archer Show Grit and Growth
In a spirited and hard-fought volleyball match on October 14, 2025, the St. Louis Community College Archers demonstrated determination and teamwork in a four-set contest against Kaskaskia College. While the final score favored Kaskaskia (3-1), the Archers showcased their potential and resilience, especially in a commanding third-set win.
The match, held at St. Louis Community College, featured intense rallies and standout individual efforts. After dropping the first two sets (17-25, 16-25), the Archers roared back in the third with a 25-20 victory, energizing the home crowd and proving their ability to adapt and respond under pressure. The fourth set remained competitive, with the Archers battling to the end before falling 19-25.
Presley Vangaasbeek led the offensive charge for St. Louis with 14 kills, while Emma Bell added 10 kills, contributing to the team's third-set surge. Defensively, the Archers were formidable at the net, recording 8 blocks—outpacing Kaskaskia's 6—and tallying 74 digs in a strong backcourt effort.
Despite a lower overall hitting percentage, the Archers showed flashes of brilliance and a commitment to improvement that bodes well for the remainder of the season.
